Where it came from
The LEGO City Fire Boat, set number 60005-1, was released in 2013 as part of the broader LEGO City Fire subtheme. This set was designed to complement the aquatic environments often featured in the City line, offering children a functional model that could actually float in water. It reflects LEGO’s long-standing tradition of combining urban emergency services themes with interactive play features, aiming to provide a realistic, albeit stylized, representation of marine fire-fighting vessels.
The design of the set focuses on the utilitarian aesthetic of a rescue boat, incorporating a rotating water cannon and space for two firefighter minifigures. As with most City sets of that era, the designers aimed for structural stability and playability, utilizing a specialized hull piece that ensures buoyancy. It was well-received by fans of the City theme, primarily for its dual-function capability as both a display model and a toy suitable for water-based play.
