Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the Lego City theme, the Fire Station (set 60004-1) was designed to serve as the centerpiece of the line's emergency services sub-theme. It reflects Lego's long-standing tradition of depicting municipal infrastructure, offering a multi-level structure that includes a garage, living quarters, and a helipad. The set was created to balance playability with architectural detail, featuring modular components that allow children to easily access the interior spaces.
The design emphasizes the bright red and white color scheme characteristic of the City emergency sets, incorporating elements like an extendable ladder truck and a helicopter to provide varied play scenarios. Upon its release, it was well-received by the Lego community for its comprehensive approach to the fire station archetype, effectively succeeding previous iterations while utilizing updated building techniques to improve stability and visual cohesion within the broader City landscape.
