Where it came from
The LEGO Duplo Fishing Trip set, released under the product number 5654, was introduced as part of the broader Duplo theme designed for toddlers and preschoolers. This set reflects the brand's long-standing focus on developing fine motor skills and imaginative play through chunky, easy-to-handle bricks. It captures a classic outdoor leisure activity, providing young children with a simplified, tactile way to role-play a day by the water.
The design follows the characteristic Duplo aesthetic, prioritizing safety, durability, and bold primary colors. Like other sets in the line, it was created by LEGO's internal design team to integrate seamlessly with the larger Duplo ecosystem, allowing children to combine these pieces with other structures and figures. It was received as a straightforward, functional toy that emphasizes open-ended creative play rather than complex building techniques.
