Where it came from
Released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Speed Champions series, this dual-vehicle set highlights two distinct eras of Ford's racing heritage. The set pairs the 2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition, which celebrates the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona victory with its signature black and gold livery, alongside the Bronco R, a desert-racing prototype that pays homage to the original 1969 Bronco Baja 1000 winner.
The design focus for this set centered on capturing the unique aerodynamic silhouettes of a low-profile supercar and a rugged off-road racer. LEGO designers prioritized the use of specialized stickers and printed elements to replicate the intricate racing decals of the Heritage Edition and the aggressive, high-clearance stance of the Bronco R. Upon its debut, the set was well-received for providing a balanced variety of building techniques within a single package, appealing to both performance car enthusiasts and off-road fans.
