Where it came from
Released in early 2024 as part of the LEGO Speed Champions theme, this set recreates the seventh-generation Ford Mustang Dark Horse. The theme is noted for its transition to an eight-stud wide chassis, a design choice intended to capture the aggressive proportions and aerodynamic detailing of modern performance vehicles that were difficult to replicate in the original six-stud format.
The model was developed through a collaboration between LEGO and Ford to mirror the 2024 Mustang's distinct visual cues, including the signature headlight arrangement, functional rear wing, and intricate grille patterns. Upon release, it was well-received by collectors for its clever use of printed elements and stickers to convey the complex textures of the full-scale sports car's front fascia.
