Where it came from
The Heartlake City Airport and Airplane (set 42656-1) was released as part of the LEGO Friends theme, a line introduced by the company to provide more character-driven, narrative-focused building experiences. The set is designed to reflect the evolving, inclusive world of Heartlake City, emphasizing modern travel and detailed role-play opportunities through its modular terminal building and passenger aircraft components.
The design team focused on creating a vibrant, accessible aesthetic that balances complex construction with playability. By incorporating familiar airport infrastructure alongside specialized elements for the plane, the set aims to immerse builders in the daily lives of the theme's core cast.
