Where it came from
The Heartlake Skate Park, set number 41099-1, was released by The LEGO Group in 2015 as part of the Friends theme. This product line was introduced to provide more character-driven building experiences, focusing on the social lives and hobbies of the central figures in Heartlake City. The skate park set was designed to capture the vibrancy of a suburban youth recreation space, featuring a modular ramp system and a central gathering area.
The design team focused on incorporating functional elements, such as a rolling skateboard and a launching ramp, to move beyond static display pieces. Like many sets within the Friends range at the time, it utilized a specific color palette that distinguished the theme from other LEGO lines. Upon its release, it was received as a functional addition to the growing urban landscape of the theme, praised by collectors for its playable features and the inclusion of the character Mia.
