Where it came from
Released in 1967, the LEGO Idea Book 260-1 serves as an early example of the company's efforts to move beyond selling basic bricks toward providing instructional inspiration. During this period, LEGO transitioned from simple construction sets toward the more structured system that defines the brand today, and this booklet was intended to demonstrate the versatility of the existing catalog to children and parents alike.
The publication features a collection of vignettes and building ideas showcasing common mid-century architectural styles and vehicle designs. The illustrations prioritize a clean, modernist aesthetic that mirrored the functional design language of the era's brick sets, aiming to spark imagination without the rigid step-by-step instructions that would become the industry standard in later decades.
