Imperial Landing Craft

Released in 2007, the LEGO Star Wars Imperial Landing Craft (set 7659) emerged during a period when the LEGO Group was expanding its focus on specialized vehicles from the Star Wars expanded universe. The set was designed to capture the utilitarian, blocky aesthetic of the Sentinel-class shuttle seen in the trilogy, featuring folding wings and a cockpit capable of housing minifigures. It was released to appeal to both younger builders and adult collectors seeking to flesh out their Imperial ground forces.

The set was primarily noted for its minifigure selection, which included the first iteration of the Sandtrooper with a white shoulder pauldron, alongside several standard Stormtroopers. While the design was praised for its functional play features, such as the troop bay doors and the retractable landing gear, some critics felt the overall proportions were slightly compromised by the constraints of the parts available at the time. Despite these minor design critiques, it remains a nostalgic piece for collectors of the classic 2000s LEGO Star Wars era.
