Where it came from
The Kimono Girl was released in 2010 as part of the Series 2 Collectible Minifigure line, designated as set number 8804-2. This series was an early expansion of the company's blind-bagged character initiative, which sought to offer unique, standalone figures that diverged from the complex vehicle and building sets traditionally found in the catalog.
The figure design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese aesthetic motifs, featuring a printed torso and headpiece intended to evoke the appearance of a classic kimono and an intricate hairstyle. It was received as a standout piece within the series for its vibrant color palette and the attention to detail in the graphical printing, reflecting a broader effort by the design team to bring cultural representation and variety to the miniature-scale universe.
