Where it came from
The LEGO Duplo Knight Tournament, released as set 10568 in 2014, was designed as part of a series intended to introduce younger children to the themes of medieval fantasy and roleplay. Created by the LEGO Group, this set emphasized larger, chunkier bricks specifically engineered for small hands, prioritizing safety and ease of assembly over the intricate mechanical complexity of standard LEGO System bricks.
The design of the set focuses on the archetype of the medieval joust, featuring stylized horses and knight figures with colorful, approachable aesthetics. By stripping back the technical constraints of smaller building sets, the designers aimed to foster early creative storytelling and motor skill development, receiving a positive reception from parents and educators for its durability and focus on imaginative play within the accessible Duplo platform.
