Where it came from
Kraw was released in 2014 as part of the initial wave of the Lego Mixels theme, a collaborative project between the Lego Group and Cartoon Network. The series was designed to provide affordable, character-driven building sets that encouraged creativity through modular construction, allowing collectors to combine three distinct figures into a larger 'max' build. Kraw serves as the leader of the Fang Gang tribe, a group of pig-like characters known for their insatiable appetites and playful personalities.
The character was conceptualized by the design team to reflect the chaotic and energetic tone of the animated shorts that accompanied the product launch. With his distinctive snout and articulated limbs, Kraw highlights the theme's focus on character personality over traditional play sets. The design received positive feedback for its clever use of small-scale elements to achieve high levels of poseability, ultimately cementing the Mixels line as a cult favorite within the Lego community before the theme concluded in 2016.
