Where it came from
The Large Hub, cataloged as part of the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime system, was developed as a central processing unit designed to bridge the gap between physical construction and computer programming. Introduced to support STEM education in classroom environments, the component reflects a shift toward more integrated, durable robotics hardware intended to withstand the rigors of repeated student use.
The industrial design of the hub emphasizes accessibility and functionality, featuring an LED matrix display and multiple ports for sensors and motors. It was engineered to be compatible with a simplified, drag-and-drop coding environment based on Scratch, prioritizing an intuitive user experience for students while maintaining the technical versatility required for more advanced block-based programming projects.
