Where it came from
Released in 2016, the LEGO Mixels Series 7 display box was designed to house the individual polybag sets from the seventh wave of this collaborative theme between LEGO and Cartoon Network. The Mixels line was conceived to blend small-scale, affordable construction toys with a serialized animated narrative, encouraging collectors to combine figures to build larger, more complex structures. This series, featuring tribes like the Tangle, the MCPD, and the Pyrratz, reflected the brand's pivot toward character-driven building experiences that emphasized modularity and personality over traditional brick-built landscapes.
The graphic design of the display box served as a point-of-sale marketing tool, utilizing vibrant, high-energy artwork consistent with the aesthetic of the Cartoon Network series. The box structure was developed to allow retailers to easily present the blind-bagged mystery characters while maintaining the brand's bold color identity. Like other series in the collection, Series 7 was received well by fans for its focus on distinct creature designs and high-quality printed elements, marking a midpoint in the theme’s three-year lifespan before its eventual conclusion.
