LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon

The LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon, specifically set 10179, was released in 2007 as part of the Ultimate Collector Series. It was designed by Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Henrik Andersen, who sought to create the most detailed and accurate representation of the iconic freighter ever produced by LEGO. At the time of its release, it was the largest and most complex set the company had ever manufactured, signaling a shift toward targeting an older, more discerning collector demographic.

The set was developed to celebrate the enduring legacy of the original Star Wars trilogy, aiming to capture the utilitarian, 'used universe' aesthetic of the ship through its intricate greebling and modular internal structure. Upon its release, it was highly acclaimed by enthusiasts for its scale and engineering, eventually becoming a benchmark for large-scale construction toys. It has since been re-released in updated versions, but the 2007 iteration remains a significant milestone in LEGO history due to its impact on the hobby and its status as a sought-after collector item.
