Where it came from
The AAT (Armored Assault Tank), set number 911611-1, was released in 2016 as part of the LEGO Star Wars magazine promotional line. These polybag sets are designed to offer small-scale, accessible versions of iconic vehicles from the Star Wars saga, specifically drawing inspiration from the Trade Federation forces seen in The Phantom Menace. The design utilizes a minimal piece count to capture the tank's distinctive rounded turret and heavy cannon profile in a format suitable for younger fans and display-focused builders alike.
This particular model was distributed as a promotional item within the official LEGO Star Wars magazine, a publication produced by Immediate Media under license from the LEGO Group. These sets are intended to function as affordable entry points into the hobby, often highlighting specific combat vehicles that complement larger, more complex building sets. While the design is simplified to accommodate the constraints of polybag manufacturing, it remains a recognized entry in the extensive catalog of small-scale Star Wars builds released throughout the late 2010s.
