Where it came from
Lloyd's Forest Dragon (set 71829) was released in 2024 as part of the LEGO Ninjago Dragons Rising theme. This iteration of the long-standing Ninjago franchise marks a soft reboot of the narrative, focusing on a merged world where dragons play a central role in the elemental balance. The set was designed to capture the agility and organic aesthetic of the forest dragon, utilizing modern building techniques to create a posable creature that reflects the series' evolving visual language.
The design team focused on incorporating the iconic green color scheme associated with Lloyd Garmadon, the Green Ninja, while integrating new wing and joint elements to improve playability and display options. As with many sets in the Ninjago line, it was crafted to bridge the gap between traditional action-oriented play and the increasingly complex build experiences sought by adult fans, receiving positive feedback for its articulation and the inclusion of detailed minifigures representing the new cast of characters.
