Where it came from
The Magna Guard Starfighter, set 7673, was released in 2008 as part of the Lego Star Wars theme, specifically tying into the debut of the Clone Wars animated series. It was designed to capture the unique, spindly aesthetic of the Soulless One’s escort ships, which were used by General Grievous’s elite droid bodyguards. The set aimed to replicate the vehicle's unconventional split-wing design, utilizing a mix of Technic and System bricks to achieve a sturdy structure that could hold the minifigures securely during play.
Upon its release, the model was generally well-received by fans for its accurate representation of the ship's unusual silhouette and the inclusion of the desirable Magna Guard minifigures. Designers focused on the ship's aggressive, bird-like posture, ensuring the wings could be repositioned to mimic flight or landing modes. It stands as a notable entry from the early Clone Wars era of the theme, reflecting a period where Lego began experimenting more heavily with specialized wing geometry and complex droid-focused craft.
