Where it came from
Released in 2008 as part of the Lego Magnet Set series, set 853414-1 features three minifigures mounted onto individual 4x4 plates with integrated magnets. This specific set drew from the broader Lego Star Wars line, packaging popular characters together to serve as both decorative desk accessories and functional stationery. These sets were designed to appeal to both younger fans and adult collectors, bridging the gap between toys and displayable memorabilia.
The figures included in this set—Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca—reflect their iconic appearances from the original trilogy. The design philosophy of these magnet sets focused on accessibility and utility, allowing builders to attach their favorite characters to metallic surfaces. While the minifigures are compatible with standard Lego elements, the magnet plates were permanently bonded to the figures in early iterations of this series, a design choice that was later altered in response to collector feedback regarding display versatility.
