Where it came from
The 853421-1 LEGO Magnet set was released in 2011 as part of a series of promotional and retail accessory packs designed to feature minifigures from the Star Wars theme. These magnets were notable for their display-oriented design, incorporating a sturdy molded plastic base that allowed the figures to be mounted securely for decorative use while maintaining their playability.
The design of these sets prioritized the iconic aesthetic of the Star Wars characters, aiming to provide fans with a compact, desk-friendly way to display figures without the need for full building sets. While the minifigures were identical to those found in larger kits, the inclusion of the magnet-integrated plate made them a distinct collectible, though they were eventually phased out as the company moved away from adhesive-based display solutions in favor of baseplate stands.
