Mining Experts Site

The Mining Experts Site, released in 2018 as part of the Lego City Mining subtheme, was designed to provide an expansive play experience centered around industrial excavation. Developed during a period when the City line was emphasizing complex, multi-vehicle sets, this particular build features a large crushing machine, a front-end loader, a dump truck, and a laboratory structure. The set captures a stylized, child-friendly version of commercial mining, focusing on interactive play features like the light-brick boulder crusher and the functional conveyor belt system.

The design team at Lego intended for this set to serve as the flagship centerpiece for the mining narrative arc, offering a diverse array of construction equipment and personnel. Upon its release, it was noted for its high piece count and the inclusion of multiple specialized vehicle builds, which appealed to fans of the City theme’s infrastructure-based sets. It remains a representative example of Lego's mid-2010s approach to large-scale sets, balancing modular building structures with durable, action-oriented vehicles.
