Where it came from
The 66580-1 Holiday Copack was released as a promotional set within the LEGO City theme, typically appearing in retail channels during the winter holiday seasons of the mid-2010s. This bundle was designed to offer consumers a convenient, pre-packaged gift option by combining multiple smaller polybag sets into a single SKU, effectively serving as an entry point for seasonal gift-giving.
The design philosophy behind such copacks relies on the established aesthetic of the City line, focusing on modular, accessible builds that capture quintessential urban and seasonal activities. While not attributed to a single lead designer due to its nature as a retail bundle of existing polybags, the component sets reflect the standard design language of the era, which prioritized playability and compatibility with larger City layouts. Reception was largely favorable among parents and casual collectors who appreciated the value-oriented bundling of these discrete, thematic models.
