Where it came from
The LEGO City Mobile Crane, set 60324-1, was released in early 2022 as part of the long-running LEGO City theme, which emphasizes modern urban construction and civic services. Designed to capture the functionality of heavy machinery, the set features a telescopic boom, a working winch, and outriggers, reflecting LEGO's ongoing effort to introduce complex mechanical movements to the play experience for younger builders aged seven and up.
The design prioritizes playability and recognizable aesthetic features typical of construction vehicles found on real-world worksites. It was received as a solid addition to the City sub-theme of construction vehicles, valued by builders for its accurate representation of mechanical functions using standard System bricks. The set includes a crane operator minifigure and a road plate, aligning with the modernized infrastructure-themed building system introduced to the City line.
