Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the LEGO City Mountain Police subtheme, the Mountain River Heist set (60175) depicts a high-speed pursuit featuring a police helicopter and a crooks' off-road truck. This set was designed to expand the play potential of the 2018 wave, emphasizing a rugged wilderness aesthetic that departed from the traditional urban street settings of the mainline City series.
The set was conceived by the LEGO design team to incorporate diverse vehicle types, specifically focusing on terrain-traversing capabilities to fit the mountain rescue narrative. It was generally well-received by younger builders and collectors of the City theme, primarily for the inclusion of the unique helicopter chassis and the detailed mountain-themed vehicle, which offered a distinct alternative to standard police cruisers.
