Where it came from
My First Building Blocks, set number 10848-1, was released by the Lego Group under the Duplo theme to serve as a foundational building set for toddlers. Designed to encourage open-ended play and the development of fine motor skills, the set features a vibrant array of primary and secondary colored bricks. By focusing on simple, chunky geometric shapes, the design team aimed to provide an intuitive experience for young children, ensuring that the bricks are large enough to be safe while remaining compatible with the broader Duplo ecosystem.
The set arrived during a period when the Lego Group was increasingly emphasizing early childhood development through tactile learning. It is widely regarded as a staple entry-level product for the brand, prioritizing essential assembly concepts over complex narrative themes or licensed intellectual properties. Because it focuses on the classic aesthetic of modular construction, the set has remained a consistent and enduring presence in the Duplo line, favored by parents and educators for its versatility and durability.
