Where it came from
Released in 2020 as part of the LEGO City sub-theme centered on the Police Elite unit, the Police Helicopter Chase (60243-1) was designed to provide a dynamic play experience for children. The set depicts an action-packed pursuit involving a police helicopter equipped with a functioning magnetic chain and a crook's getaway truck, reflecting the ongoing narrative of law enforcement and criminal activity that has defined the City theme for decades.
The set was developed during a period when LEGO was experimenting with integrated play features, specifically the magnetic element designed to lift the getaway car. As part of the wider City line, it emphasizes modular construction and compatibility with other emergency services sets, aiming to balance durability for active play with the recognizable aesthetic standards maintained by the company's design teams in Billund.
