Where it came from
The LEGO City Police Helicopter Transport, set 60244-1, was released in early 2020 as part of the long-running LEGO City Police sub-theme. Designed to expand the play value of the City range, the set focuses on a transport truck and trailer mechanism meant to ferry a police helicopter to a deployment site, reflecting the modular and action-oriented narrative style that has defined the City theme for decades.
The set was developed by the LEGO design team to incorporate diverse building techniques, balancing the technical construction of the heavy-duty truck with the specialized aerodynamics of the helicopter. Upon release, it was well-received by the building community for its effective use of sub-assemblies and its ability to fit into the broader urban layouts favored by hobbyists, serving as a functional piece of infrastructure for a fictional police force.
