Police Monster Truck Heist

Released in 2020 as part of the Lego City Police subtheme, the Police Monster Truck Heist set was designed to capture the high-energy action of the animated television series Lego City Adventures. The set centers on a heavy-duty monster truck equipped with a magnetic arm, reflecting a period in Lego design where play features like magnets and break-away structures were emphasized to appeal to younger audiences. It was produced during a time when the City theme was shifting toward more complex, character-driven narrative play.

The design of the set focuses on functional play, featuring a bank building with a vault that can be ripped away using the monster truck’s magnetic crane. It includes key minifigures such as Tom Bennett and Big Betty, who serve as recurring antagonists and protagonists within the City franchise. Upon its release, the set was noted for its vibrant color palette and the inclusion of specialized components, such as the oversized monster truck tires and the magnetic hook, which distinguished it from more traditional law enforcement vehicles in the City line.
