Where it came from
The LEGO City Police Station, set 60316, was released in 2022 as part of the long-running City theme. This iteration was designed to reflect modern urban aesthetics, featuring a modular building style that allows for customization. It represents the evolution of the police station sub-theme, which has been a cornerstone of LEGO City sets for decades, providing a central hub for the line's recurring cast of officers and criminals.
The set was developed by the LEGO Group's internal design team, focusing on playability and narrative potential. It incorporates a jail cell, a police vehicle, and a drone to appeal to contemporary children's interests in modern law enforcement technology. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the City theme for its inclusion of the 'Road Plate' system, which allows for seamless integration with other sets in the 2022 City expansion wave.
