Where it came from
The Prisoner Transport set, released in 2005 as part of the LEGO City theme, was designed to provide a functional and thematic addition to a police-focused display. It reflects the era's focus on essential municipal services, building upon the foundations of classic Town-era police sets by updating the vehicle aesthetic to match the sleeker City design language. The set features a specialized truck with a detachable trailer and a jail cell module, capturing a practical approach to law enforcement play that had long been a staple of the broader product line.
The design of the transport vehicle emphasizes playability through the inclusion of a hinged rear door and a detailed interior, allowing for the secure containment of a minifigure. As part of the broader City lineup, the set was received as a straightforward, utility-focused build that filled a specific role in an urban landscape. It stands as an example of LEGO’s commitment to consistent, service-oriented vehicle designs that helped define the early years of the modern City theme.
