Where it came from
The Pug with Doghouse set, identified by number 562402-1, was released as a promotional polybag under the LEGO Friends theme. Designed to capture the playful, hobby-oriented aesthetic of the Heartlake City sub-themes, it reflects the company’s mid-2010s strategy of creating accessible, character-driven companion sets. These small-scale builds were typically distributed at retail events or as gift-with-purchase items to expand the world-building potential of the larger Friends line.
The design emphasizes a stylized, approachable aesthetic that aligns with the Friends theme's distinct color palette and focus on pet care. It was intended to function as an entry-level build, showcasing the company's ability to create recognizable animal figures and modular scenery within a very limited piece count. While minor in the broader scope of the collection, such sets were well-received by younger builders and collectors of the Friends micro-series for their utility in populating custom dioramas.
