Where it came from
The Retro Food Truck, released under the LEGO Icons theme in 2024, serves as an expansion set designed to complement the modular building collection. It was developed to offer builders a detailed, vintage-inspired vehicle that captures the aesthetic of mid-century street vending. The design focuses on a rounded, nostalgic silhouette reminiscent of classic American catering trucks, featuring a vibrant color palette and a functional service window that integrates seamlessly with larger city layouts.
The set was conceived by the LEGO design team as a tribute to urban street culture and retro automotive design. Upon its release, it was well-received by adult fans of the brand for its clever parts usage and the inclusion of a highly detailed interior. By balancing its display-ready appearance with playable features, the set occupies a niche between decorative model kits and traditional play-based sets, solidifying its place within the ongoing expansion of the Icons range.
