Where it came from
The Samurai Warrior set, numbered 8803-4, was released in the mid-1990s as part of a standalone line of construction sets focused on historical and cultural archetypes. During this period, the manufacturer sought to diversify its catalog by exploring themes beyond its core space and castle lines, leaning into modular figures that emphasized individual character design and detailed accessories.
The design of the Samurai Warrior reflects a period aesthetic characterized by custom molded helmets and specialized weaponry that departed from standard minifigure conventions of the era. While it was not part of a long-running series, it received modest attention from collectors interested in the experimentation of the decade, serving as a distinct example of the brand’s brief foray into realistic historical representation.
