Where it came from
The Scarif Stormtrooper, identified as LEGO set 40176, was released in 2017 as a promotional polybag. It depicts the specialized Shoretroopers introduced in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, designed to guard the Imperial military installation on the tropical planet of Scarif. The figure was produced to coincide with the broader LEGO Star Wars Rogue One wave, offering collectors a standalone version of the distinctive tan-armored infantry character.
The design of the minifigure reflects the unique aesthetic of the Shoretrooper, featuring specialized printing that distinguishes it from the standard Galactic Empire stormtrooper. By utilizing unique color palettes and helmet molding, the LEGO design team aimed to capture the gritty, field-ready appearance seen on screen. Upon its release, the set was well-received by fans of the Star Wars franchise as an accessible way to build out squads of Imperial forces without needing to purchase larger, more expensive vehicle sets.
