Where it came from
Released in 2004 as part of the LEGO Knights' Kingdom II theme, Sir Danju was one of the primary character sets designed to anchor the narrative of the new island of Morcia. The figure was marketed as a standalone blister-pack set, intended to introduce children to the specific heroic archetype of the shield-wielding knight who served as a mentor figure to the younger protagonists in the broader story arc.
The design of Sir Danju reflected a shift toward larger, more articulated action-oriented figures within the LEGO lineup at the time. Characterized by his unique chrome-hued armor pieces and a specialized shield mold, the design aimed to capture a sense of regal authority and seasoned experience. While the Knights' Kingdom II theme received mixed reactions from long-time fans due to its departure from classic castle aesthetics, the Sir Danju figure remains a distinct hallmark of the era's experimentation with character-driven construction sets.
