Where it came from
The Sir Fangar Claw Shield was released in 2015 as part of the LEGO Legends of Chima theme, a fantasy-based toy line centered on anthropomorphic animal tribes. The shield was designed as a roleplay accessory, specifically themed after Sir Fangar, the leader of the Saber-tooth Tiger tribe and the primary antagonist of the final season of the Chima narrative. It served as a tactile extension of the series' lore, allowing children to physically inhabit the role of the frost-themed villains during play.
The design of the shield emphasizes a predatory, icy aesthetic, featuring sharp, claw-like protrusions and a color palette of stark whites and translucent blues to mimic glacial formations. It was marketed primarily as a wearable costume piece to complement the broader line of Chima weaponry and construction sets. While the theme concluded shortly after the item's release, the shield remains a noted piece of ephemeral roleplay merchandise from the mid-2010s period of LEGO history.
