Where it came from
Released in 2007, the LEGO Star Wars Sith Infiltrator set 7663-1 was designed as part of the broader Star Wars theme to coincide with the ongoing expansion of the prequel trilogy era. It recreates the Scimitar, the personal starship utilized by Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, focusing on its distinct, angular aesthetic and the ability to house the Sith Speeder within its interior bays.
The set was conceived by LEGO designers to offer a compact yet functional representation of the vessel, prioritizing the play features of the folding wings and removable speeder. Upon its debut, it was well-regarded by collectors for its efficient use of pieces to capture the ship’s complex geometry, serving as a notable entry in the mid-range price bracket for that year's release cycle.
