Where it came from
The Sith Infiltrator, designated as set COMCON019-1, was produced by the LEGO Group as an exclusive release for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. It was designed to celebrate the legacy of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, specifically highlighting Darth Maul's iconic starship. The set featured a compact, micro-scale build that prioritized portability and unique packaging, reflective of the highly sought-after convention-exclusive tradition that LEGO established to engage its most dedicated adult fan base.
The design of this specific set draws directly from the aesthetic established by the broader LEGO Star Wars line, which balances recognizable silhouette with limited piece counts. By housing the model in a stylized, collector-oriented box that mimicked the ship's dark, aggressive aesthetic, the designers aimed to create a premium memento for attendees. Upon its release, it was received as a centerpiece for convention collectors, marking a high point in the era of limited-run promotional sets that have since become staples of the hobby.
