Where it came from
The Sons of Garmadon polybag, set number 30531, was released in 2018 as part of the LEGO Ninjago theme. This set serves as a promotional tie-in to the eighth season of the Ninjago television series, which introduced the titular biker gang as the primary antagonists. The release was intended to provide fans with an accessible entry point to the season's aesthetic, which marked a notable visual shift for the theme by introducing more mature, edgy character designs.
The set includes a single Sons of Garmadon biker minifigure, complete with a motorcycle build consistent with the gang's motorized, scavenger-inspired motif. The design was crafted by the LEGO Ninjago development team to capture the tactical, aggressive appearance of the villains as they appeared in the show. Upon its release, the item was primarily distributed as a promotional gift with purchase or through specific retail activations, quickly becoming a sought-after piece for collectors focusing on completionist Ninjago displays.
