Star Wars Episode II Poster

The Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones theatrical poster was produced in 2002 to accompany the film’s worldwide cinematic release. As the second installment in George Lucas’s prequel trilogy, the film marked a significant moment in the franchise, leaning heavily into early digital cinematography and expansive computer-generated environments. The artwork captures the central conflict between the burgeoning Jedi Order and the rising Separatist movement, featuring a composition that highlights the romantic tension between Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala alongside the burgeoning threat of the Clone Wars.

The poster design follows the long-standing tradition of Lucasfilm’s iconic marketing aesthetic, utilizing a collage-style layout that balances major character portraits with key plot elements. While the identity of the specific graphic designer is often attributed to the internal Lucasfilm marketing team in collaboration with creative agencies like Intralink, the aesthetic was intentional in its attempt to bridge the gap between the adventurous tone of the original trilogy and the darker, political narrative established in the prequels. It was received by the fan base as a quintessential piece of early 2000s blockbuster memorabilia, signaling a shift toward more complex, multi-layered visual storytelling in movie marketing.
