Where it came from
The LEGO Technic Street Motorcycle, set 42036, was released in 2015 as part of the broader Technic line, which is known for its focus on complex mechanical functions and realistic engineering. Designed as a mid-sized motorcycle model, it features a functional steering mechanism, a chain-driven rear wheel, and a two-cylinder engine with moving pistons, reflecting the line's emphasis on demonstrating how automotive systems operate in miniature.
The set was conceived as a 2-in-1 model, allowing builders to reconstruct the motorcycle into a custom retro bike. Its design aesthetic leans toward the street-fighter style, utilizing bright blue and black panels to highlight its structural framing. Upon release, it was well-received by the hobbyist community for offering a robust building experience that showcased essential mechanical principles without the extreme complexity or piece count of larger flagship Technic sets.
