Where it came from
The LEGO Friends Apartments set, released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Icons line, was developed to commemorate the enduring legacy of the television series Friends. Following the success of the Central Perk set, designers sought to recreate the two iconic apartments that served as the primary backdrop for the show's ten-season run. The set captures the distinct living spaces of Monica and Rachel and Joey and Chandler, connected by the signature hallway.
The design process focused on packing as much screen-accurate detail as possible into a condensed footprint, including the famous reclining chairs, the chicken-themed decor, and the balcony scenes. Led by LEGO designer Anderson Ward Grubb, the set was praised by fans for its inclusion of easter eggs such as the Thanksgiving turkey and the foosball table, effectively serving as a love letter to the series' most memorable moments.
