The Goonies

The LEGO Ideas The Goonies set, designated 21363-1, originated from a fan-submitted design through the LEGO Ideas platform, a process that invites enthusiasts to propose new concepts for production. This set was developed to commemorate the 1985 adventure film directed by Richard Donner and produced by Steven Spielberg, capturing the iconic subterranean treasure hunt led by a group of young friends. The design focuses on key thematic elements of the film, translating its nostalgic aesthetic into the medium of interlocking bricks to appeal to both long-time fans of the movie and dedicated LEGO builders.

The set represents a collaborative effort between the original fan designer and LEGO’s internal design team, who refined the proposal to meet the company's standards for playability and structural integrity. Upon its release, it was positioned as a display-oriented piece that evokes the specific tone of 1980s cinema. The reception has been largely defined by its appeal to a cross-generational audience, serving as a tangible tribute to the cultural impact of the film while showcasing the possibilities of the Ideas line in bringing niche pop-culture properties to the mainstream collector market.
