Where it came from
The Thunder Keeper set, released as part of the Lego Ninjago 'The Island' subtheme, was introduced to expand the narrative of the Masters of Spinjitzu as they journey to an uncharted, mysterious island. This set captures the aesthetic of the Keepers, a tribal faction inhabiting the island, characterized by their elemental motifs and intricate, primitive-inspired armor designs.
The design of the Thunder Keeper focuses on the integration of a specialized dragon-like creature and a distinct minifigure equipped with elemental weaponry. It was conceptualized to offer collectors an accessible entry point into the visual style of the 2021 island-themed wave, emphasizing earth tones and neon accents to evoke a sense of jungle-dwelling danger that contrasts with the traditional ninja aesthetic.
