Where it came from
The Skull Sorcerer debuted in 2020 as part of the LEGO Ninjago 'Master of the Mountain' wave. This set and its associated character were introduced to bridge the long-running Ninjago narrative with a dungeon-crawler aesthetic, inspired by classic tabletop role-playing games. The character design features a distinctive molded helmet and translucent elements intended to evoke an aura of dark, ancient magic within the Ninjago lore.
The figure was designed by the LEGO Group's Ninjago creative team to serve as the primary antagonist for the thirteenth season of the television series. Upon release, the set was noted for its integration into the 'Ninjago Board Game' play mechanic, which allowed children to use the figures as game pieces. The design was praised by the community for its detailed torso printing and the inclusion of unique accessory pieces, solidifying its place as a standout villain in the Ninjago character roster.
