Where it came from
The Titan set, identified by number 76980-1, was released as part of the construction set series tied to the Overwatch 2 franchise. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment and translated into a physical building set, the model depicts the massive, four-legged omnic unit known as the Titan. Its design was intended to replicate the imposing aesthetic of the game's architecture, utilizing complex geometry to mimic the heavy industrial plating and mechanical articulation seen on screen.
The reception of this set was heavily influenced by its association with the Overwatch video game series, which garnered a massive global following upon its debut. The model was designed for older fans and enthusiasts of science fiction mechanical design, focusing on display value and fidelity to the in-game character models. Upon its release, it was regarded as a significant addition to the theme, capturing a specific moment in the evolution of hero-shooter merchandise and the broader trend of gaming-adjacent building sets.
