Where it came from
Released in 2016 as part of the LEGO City Police subtheme, Tire Escape 60126-1 was designed as a small, entry-level set focused on high-speed action play. The set features a police pursuit vehicle and a rolling tire element, capturing the classic tropes of police chases often seen in children's television and film. It was marketed primarily as a polybag or small boxed set, providing an accessible gateway for younger builders into the broader City world.
The design follows the standard City aesthetic, prioritizing playability and durability for children over complex building techniques. It was developed by the LEGO Group's internal design team, following their long-standing design language of vibrant primary colors and simplified vehicle geometry. Upon release, it was well-received by parents and young builders as an affordable stocking-stuffer or impulse purchase, serving its role as a functional, narrative-driven toy within the expansive LEGO City product line.
