Toa Hahli

Toa Hahli was released in 2006 as part of the Bionicle line, specifically within the Toa Inika sub-theme. This iteration of the character represented a significant transition in the overarching Bionicle narrative, as Hahli gained elemental powers of water through the Mask of Life. The set was designed to reflect this evolution, incorporating the distinct aesthetic of the Toa Inika, which emphasized energized protodermis and more aggressive, action-oriented character models compared to earlier, more static Bionicle releases.

The design of the 8728-1 set featured the iconic ball-joint system and specialized armor plating characteristic of the mid-2000s Bionicle era. Like its peers in the Inika wave, the model included light-up components and a projectile launcher, elements intended to increase playability and shelf presence. Upon its release, the set was noted by enthusiasts for its unique color palette of teal and trans-blue, which distinguished it from the more muted tones of other characters in the series, and it remains a representative piece of LEGO's shift toward high-mobility, complex action-figure style construction sets.
