Town Hall

Released in 1978, the LEGO Town Hall (set 350-3) stands as a foundational piece in the history of the LEGOLAND Town theme. During this era, LEGO transitioned toward more structured urban environments, and the Town Hall served as the administrative heart of the budding minifigure cities. The set was designed to be modular and proportional to the early classic town sets, emphasizing a minimalist architectural aesthetic that relied on primary colors and basic brick geometry to define space rather than intricate detailing.

The design of set 350-3 reflects the practical design philosophy of the late 1970s, featuring a simple gabled roof, a small clock tower element, and a focus on playability through an open-back structure. It was received as a quintessential building block of the early Town series, providing a central civic location for the newly introduced standard minifigures. As one of the early iterations of a town building, it established the design language for future civic sets, favoring recognizable silhouettes and iconic simplicity over the complex structural techniques seen in modern iterations.
