Where it came from
Released in 2002 as part of the inaugural LEGO Harry Potter wave, Troll on the Loose captures the pivotal scene from the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This set was designed to recreate the confrontation in the Hogwarts girls' bathroom, a key moment where Harry and Ron save Hermione from a mountain troll, marking the beginning of their lasting friendship.
The set features a unique, brick-built troll figure, a departure from the minifigure-scale creatures seen in later iterations. The design prioritized playability and environmental detail, including the stall partitions and the iconic plumbing fixtures of the movie's set. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of the burgeoning theme for its effective use of limited pieces to capture a specific, high-stakes cinematic sequence.
